Sunday night, 10 o’clock and the house is quiet — finally. The kid’s asleep. You’ve crushed and conquered the mountain of Amazon boxes piling up in your garage and tidied the dozen toys and bits of Cheerios that you’ve been stepping over since Tuesday.

It’s time to treat yourself – and why not? You’ve earned it.

Before you sit down remote in hand to fight over what to watch, head to the home bar and reach for one of these three scotches for two ounces (and an extra splash) of zen.

Glenlivet 14: Cognac Cask Selection

Mood: Spring is finally here.

Speyside scotches are known to be light on peat and heavy on the fruit. This single-malt scotch is aged 14 long years in bourbon and sherry casks before being finished in cognac casks. Now, that’s bougie! If you are scotch-curious, this is the perfect intro. But pour heavy. It goes down smooth.

Nose: Sweet and fruity aromas of honey and apricot jam, with notes of sweet cinnamon bread and subtle sensation of spicy licorice

Taste: Succulent flavors of mandarins in syrup, ripe poached pears, and chocolate-dipped raisins

Glass: Keep it simple, yet classy

Set of (2) 11 oz Premium Scotch Glasses

Nice Drinking Experience. With the firm brim of glasses, you could enjoy every wonderful moment and feel the crisp sounds when toasting with friends.

Oban 14

Mood: Just loosened your tie.

James Bond loved scotch from the Highlands region, which is no surprise. These scotches are known to be rich and full-bodied. Sweet and peat are perfectly balanced. The Oban Distillery has been around since the late 18th century and is a relatively small producer. This one is a true crowd-pleaser that you can feel confident pouring for guests. Once you try this scotch, it’ll become a mainstay in your home bar. Trust us on that.

Nose: Fresh oranges, lemons, and pears, with a hint of salt and peat.

Taste: Dried fig, spice, and a smoked malt dryness.

Glass: Crystal is the only way to go

Set of (4) KANARS Old Fashioned Whiskey Glasses

Nice Drinking Experience. With the firm brim of glasses, you could enjoy every wonderful moment and feel the crisp sounds when toasting with friends.

Lagavulin 16

Mood: Sitting by a campfire in a Pendelton flannel shirt.

Islay scotches are known for their heavy peating. Be warned, if you are new to scotch, this is probably not the one you want. Lagavulin gained even more popularity from the hit show, Parks & Rec, thanks to Ron Swanson’s penchant for the Earthy drink. You might be tempted to add ice cubes to this scotch. Don’t do it. Go big. Embrace the peat!

Nose: Sweet, smoke, earthy, ripe plums, leather.

Taste: Peat, s’mores made with dark chocolate, very faint wood, iodine.

Glass: Serious scotch requires a serious glass

Set of (6) Glencairn Whiskey Glasses

In the history of whisky, there has never been a definitive glass that the whisky world could call its pride. Now, following in the tradition of Scottish innovation, the Lamarada Glass has emerged. The Lamarada Glass’ origin lie in the traditional nosing and tasting glassware used by professional blenders and connoisseurs around the world.
